Coding today is an integral part of everyday life, something that you can’t escape. Which is why today, I want to give you five reasons why you should code; even if you’re not doing anything related to tech:
1. Everybody Can Make Use Of It
It’s a skill that will always be necessary in this day and age and if anything it’s getting more in demand. No matter what job field you’re in or what you do practically everything uses computers, computer systems and phones. Understanding how it all works and how everything is processed will help you gain a more logical way of running your electronic systems. Tedious tasks done in the office or at home can be kept to a minimum using the power of code. Even if you get the basics down, which is super easy it will make your work and home life that little bit more organised. Everyone whether it be a business, person or organisation requires a website or some sort of technology in their lives.
2. It Increases your Problem Solving Skills
Learning how to code is a great way to increase your personal skills as it involves disciplined, precise and abstract thinking. The program has to be definitive and written in a certain way or else it will not run. It requires great analysis and concentration, the skills you develop whilst you learn how to code can be transferred into your daily life, making you a rounded individual overall.
3. Opens More Doors
Coding is one of the jobs that computers (or robots) can’t take from us since it’s a skill that can’t be automated and it involves us controlling technology rather than the other way round. The people who program the robots will be around (at least for the foreseeable future) for a very long time, making it a very high in demand and valued job. Therefore, you have the potential to earn more money and work on your own terms rather than the usual 9-5 shifts.
4. You can learn at home
The great thing with coding is there are so many videos and tutorials online! From YouTube videos to online courses that you can find for free or at a very discounted price. You can learn how to code in the convenience of your home and in your own time as the only piece of equipment you need is your computer. This makes it a very attractive skill to learn, as fast or as slow as you like.
5. Its an Expendable Trait
What you learn from coding today can transform into something amazing tomorrow. There are so many examples of new Artificial Technology and Cloud Systems that are being created all the time. All of this could not be done without code! Many of the biggest inventions and groundbreaking ideas in the near future will probably have some sort of code embedded within it when looking back at trends from recent years. The big giants, Amazon, FaceBook, Microsoft, and many more uses code and a lot more things in the future will come that use code so it’s a skill that is not dying out.
I’ll end with this video that really opened my eyes to the power of code.
